Medication


If you are taking any tablets or medication it is important that you bring these with you, in their original labelled containers when you come into the Hospital.

 

Scans


Please ensure that you bring with you any relevant scans (CT/MRI/X-Ray) that you may have had taken prior to your admission.

 

Personal Property


We recommend that you do not bring any valuables with you to the hospital as we cannot take responsibility for any lost or misplaced items. As wardrobe space is limited we would advise you to bring only necessary attire, such as night wear, dressing gown, slippers, toiletries and reading material.

Arriving at the Hospital


The Hospital is situated on Georges Quay, Limerick. Please note there is no parking at the hospital but there is a drop off point at the main entrance. There are a number of Public Car Parks located within walking distance of the Hospital.

Wheelchair Access


For those requiring assisted access, the hospital has two ramp entrances.

Please check with the receptionist on duty who will assist with your needs.


When you arrive at the hospital, come to the main entrance and notify the receptionist of your arrival. You will be directed to the main waiting area in the lower ground floor of the hospital. A member of the Admissions Team will meet with you and verify your personal information and health insurance cover. You will then be directed to the ward area where a member of the nursing staff will meet with you and help you settle in. Once you are settled, essential medical information will be taken and you will be given the opportunity to discuss your procedure and have any questions that you may have regarding your treatment answered. Our staff are open and understanding of any concerns that you might raise.

 

Allied Health Professionals


During your stay, you may come into contact with a range of clinical specialists including radiographers and physiotherapists. All staff are highly trained in their area of speciality ensuring the very best care. Any staff visiting your room will all have a hospital ID showing their name and their role within the Hospital. All staff will be in uniform.

 

Cost of Treatment & Investigations


The hospital provides services for both patients covered by Health Insurance and patients without. For those patients without Health Insurance we have a range of self paying packages available. For further details regarding payment please click here

 

Paying for Outpatient Treatment & Investigations


It is our policy that all payments for outpatient treatment and investigation are settled on the day of your appointment. We ask that you bring with you cash, cheque or a valid debit or credit card with you to ensure that this can take place. You will be made aware of the cost of such treatment in advance of your appointment by a member of the Administration Team.

 

Discharge from Hospital


Your Consultants and nursing staff are available to answer any questions about your procedure, medications and your recovery. Your Consultant will decide when you are ready to go home and will see you prior to you leaving the hospital. You will be advised of your expected time of discharge however this may vary and we ask for your flexibility in arranging your collection home from the hospital. The person collecting you will be asked to complete your discharge documentation prior to you leaving the hospital. You will need someone to drive you home and someone to stay with you up to 24 hours post your discharge. Please keep this in mind as you plan your hospital stay. A member of the Nursing Team will contact you by telephone following your discharge home to ensure that you are making a full recovery and keeping well.

The Restaurant is located on the lower ground floor of the main hospital building, adjacent to the main waiting area. The restaurant is open to patients, visitors and members of the public Monday – Friday between the hours of 7.30am to 5pm offering an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. Tea and coffee services are also available throughout the day.
