Set in the heart of Limerick, Barringtons Hospital has been open for 14 years as a private hospital but has over 170 years history of providing medical care in the Mid West region. Built in 1829, Barrington's was closed as a public hospital in 1988 during the country's health cut-back strategies and it re-opened in 1989 as a private medical centre and as a private hospital in 1994. It is the first stand-alone ambulatory day care centre in the county.
